Our Story and Commitment

The Peninsular Florida District Council of the Assemblies of God is dedicated to empowering ministers and missionaries from Georgia to the Caribbean islands and the Suwanee River to the Atlantic Ocean. Our mission is to credential and support those who are called to spread the gospel, ensuring that every community within our reach experiences the transformative power of faith. We envision a world where every individual has the opportunity to hear the message of Christ, and we are committed to providing the resources and support necessary to make this vision a reality.

Our Historical Journey

The Assemblies of God has its roots in the religious revival of the late 1800s. Many Christians in the United States and around the world felt a strong desire for more of God’s power. In response, the Holy Spirit moved among them, just as described in the book of Acts. The modern Pentecostal movement began with prayer meetings at First Assembly Bible College in Topeka, Kansas, on January 1, 1901. This revival quickly spread to Missouri, Texas, and then California. A significant three-year revival at the Azusa Street Mission in Los Angeles drew believers from across the nation and beyond, serving as a launchpad for sharing the Pentecostal message worldwide. Today, the General Council of the Assemblies of God recognizes fifty-eight distinct districts.
